August events in Jamaica 2017 include Montego Bay Jerk Festival, cricket and Denbigh Agricultural Show.

We celebrate our emancipation day on August 1st by attending a festival, the Emancipation Jubilee Celebration or parties in Negril and Ocho Rios. The celebrations continue on August 6th, when we honour our independence.

August is the month for festivals, stage shows and family gatherings.

1838 and 1962 mark the dates of Emancipation and Independence respectively in Jamaica.

There will be many cultural events island wide for the month of August in celebration of these two important dates in Jamaica’s history.

When:  July 31st and August 6th

Learn everything about our culture through our week-long celebration of Independence.

There is an event for every tourist that visits Jamaica.

Grand Gala, World Reggae Dance Competition, Gospel competition, Emancipation Vigils, Fashion Show, Church Service and Dance Competitions are just a few of the week long events to commemorate our  independence.


Mobay Jerk Festival

Where: Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex, Montego Bay
When:  July 31 to August 1st

Cost: General JA$1,200, VIP JA$2,500

Due to the great response to this event from locals and tourists, the organisers have added a second day.

Some persons say that the Montego Bay's largest jerk festival is only second to the Portland Jerk Festival.

This is a family oriented event that shines the spotlight on food, culture and entertainment.

There will be all-day activities for children and adults, so be prepared to be entertained, watch food preparation, and buy jerk food.

Delight in the evening entertainment from the leading and most fashionable entertainers such as  I Octane, Sanchez and Tanto Blacks.

The purpose of this festival is to highlight Jamaica's food and entertainment culture on the north coast.

The Caribbean’s oldest and largest agriculture event, Denbigh Show represents the backbone of Jamaica’s agricultural society.

This is the time to display the agricultural products that have made Jamaicans so attractive, especially from persons in the rural areas.

Come and be well-informed about Jamaica's food culture through booth holders and key note presentation.

 Presenters will also be on hand to assist with financing and day-to-day buying advice.


Caribbean Premier League T20 Championship

Date: August 25,26,30 and Sept 1(Dates for matches in Jamaica) 

Location: Sabina Park, Kingston

Cricket is the most popular sport in the Caribbean.

Take the family along and revel in the remaining matches of the C.P.L. cricket tournament for the first week in August.

Come and be a part of history as once again the Jamaican team endeavours to make the finals.
