What’s the time in Jamaica now?
That’s a common question I get asked a lot, especially by first-time visitors.
You want to be on time for your dinner reservations and excursions.
You also want to stay in touch with your family and friends who might be in a different time zone.
On this page you will find information on:
Jamaica uses the Eastern Standard Time, which is in the Eastern Time Zone.
Jamaica has one-time zone, so it’s the same time whether you are in Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Falmouth, Negril, Portland or Kingston.
Unlike the United States of America and Canada, we don’t function with the daylight-saving time.
In the United States of America, Canada, and Europe, daylight saving time usually begins in March and ends in October or November.
Sunrise in Jamaica will range from 5:40 am to 6:30 am and sunset from 6:15 pm to 6:55 pm.
The daytime is usually longer in the summer, so sunset will be nearer to 7 pm.
Greenwich Mean Time is five hours ahead of our standard time (GMT-5).
One of the first things you should do is adjust your time to Jamaican local time.
Depending on your hometown, the difference might range from one hour to almost a day.
NB. Tip For daylight saving time.
When observing daylight saving time, increase the time by one hour. So London would be a 6-hour difference, instead of 5 hours and Calgary would be a 1 hour difference instead of 2 hours.
So you want to know the Jamaican time right now?
Below I outline the time differences for the few well-known places.
Even if your location is not listed below, you should notice a familiar country and apply the adjustments to your location.
